Granite countertop cost calculator for Toronto and the GTA
Last updated: By The Slab Desk
Granite is quoted by level, so a calculator that only asks for square feet cannot answer the question. Pick the level, add the cut-outs and the edge, and this shows every line the way a GTA fabricator would bill it, with the company that published each rate named beside it.

Then, every few years: $200 to $350 a visit
Granite is porous and takes a sealer, so professional resealing is a real recurring cost, priced at $200 to $350 per visit for an average kitchen as published by Pacific West Floor Decor (Canadian countertop company, resealing cost guide). It is kept out of the total above on purpose: folding a service you buy every few years into a one-time install price overstates the install and hides the cost of owning the stone.
The low column is every line landing at its cheapest at once, which is not a number to plan around. Levelling failed cabinets, plumbing disconnect and reconnect, stairs, and a shop minimum on a small job are all outside this and all show up on real GTA bids.
How this estimate is put together
Nothing here is modelled. The three level rates, the edge upgrade, the sink cut-out and the resealing figure all come out of the researched granite file behind this site's granite cost guide. The cooktop cut-out comes from the stone fabrication file and the tear-out line from the general installation file, because those two operations are priced by the shop doing the cutting rather than by the material. All of it was collected in August 2026 from named companies, most of them GTA fabricators this directory also lists.
The arithmetic is deliberately plain: area times the level rate, plus each add-on times its own count, plus 13% HST on the lot. Lows add to lows and highs add to highs, which widens the spread rather than narrowing it. That is the honest direction and it is why the page says out loud that the low column is a floor and not a budget.
Four things move a real quote that no calculator can see. How many seams your layout forces, because a run longer than the slab needs a joint and a joint is labour. Whether the cabinets are level, because granite does not bend and a bad base gets shimmed or rebuilt. Whether the shop can get the slab through your door, which is a real line on downtown condo jobs. And whether the job is small enough to hit the shop's minimum charge, which quietly pushes the effective rate per square foot well above the posted one on a bathroom-sized piece.

Frequently asked questions
What does granite actually cost per square foot in Toronto?
- It depends almost entirely on the level, and the levels are far apart. On Tec Corp Stone's own published ladder, Level 1 granite runs $55 to $80 per square foot supplied and installed, Level 2 runs $75 to $110, and Level 3, meaning rare colours and difficult sourcing, runs $100 to $140 or more. Those are all installed rates from named GTA fabricators, so they already contain the templating, the fabrication and the fitting. What they do not contain is the edge upgrade, the cut-outs, the tear-out and 13% HST.
What is a granite level and why does it change the price so much?
- The level is the yard's own grading of the slab, and it prices the stone rather than the work. A Level 1 black speckle and a rare imported Level 3 are the same job for the same crew on the same day: the same template, the same saw, the same two fitters. Almost the entire difference in your quote is what the yard paid for the slab, which is why picking a level down is the single most effective way to cut a granite quote without cutting quality of workmanship.
Is the edge profile included in the price per square foot?
- The standard eased edge is, on every GTA quote worth reading. Anything past it is a separate line billed by the linear foot: a premium ogee, mitred or waterfall profile runs $20 to $40 per linear foot over the eased edge, on the one readable Canadian rate, published by Ottawa General Contractors. That means an edge upgrade on a 20-foot run of counter is a $400 to $800 decision, which is worth knowing before you agree to it in a showroom.
How much is a sink cut-out in granite?
- Stone Valley Countertops in Mississauga charges $250 to $350 per undermount cut-out. Natural Stone City puts the Ontario span wider, at $150 to $500 depending on complexity. This page uses Stone Valley's figure and names it, rather than merging the two. It is charged for the same operation, which is a useful reminder that a cut-out price is a shop policy rather than a market rate. Some shops include the first one in the installed price. Ask which, and get the answer on the quote.
Does granite really need resealing, and what does it cost?
- Yes, because granite is porous. A professional resealing visit for an average kitchen runs $200 to $350 in Canada. This calculator reports that separately rather than adding it to the install total, because it is a cost of owning granite rather than of buying it. There is no fixed interval to quote you: it depends on the density of your particular stone and the sealer used, so test it with a little water and reseal when the stone starts darkening instead of beading.
Why is the low end of the range not a realistic budget?
- The low column is every single line in the estimate landing at its cheapest at the same time: the cheapest slab in the level, the cheapest edge rate, the cheapest cut-out, the cheapest tear-out. No real quote does that. Read the low end as the floor of what is possible and the high end as the ceiling, and expect a measured Toronto quote to sit between them, closer to the middle.
