How Much Do Granite Countertops Cost in Toronto in 2026?

Last updated: By The Slab Desk

Granite countertops in the Toronto area run $55 to $80 per sq ft installed, as published by TecCorp Stone (Toronto, Level 1-3 guide, Jan 2026). The slab does most of the work: stock colours a supplier carries in volume cost far less than a rare imported block. Then thickness, edge profile, seam count, the undermount sink cut-out and its polished edge, and delivery. Granite is porous, so add a sealer refresh to the running cost, at a frequency that depends on the stone and the sealer used.

What does granite cost per square foot installed?

These are not Countertop Installers estimates and they are not a market survey. Every range below rests on 8 independent companies publishing prices on 8 of their own pages, read off those pages in August 2026: TecCorp Stone, Toronto General Contractors, Tec Corp Stone, CGD Cabinetry, Granite Nations, Stone Valley Countertops, Pacific West Floor Decor, Stone Wizards. Most are GTA fabricators and suppliers, and several are listed in this directory. Read each one as what that company advertises, not as what a job settles at: an advertised range is written to win the work, a real quote is measured on site. Where two companies disagree, each range is published under its own company's name rather than merged into a wider band neither of them quotes.

Mid-range granite, installed (Toronto General Contractors' Level 2 equivalent)Toronto General Contractors says most Toronto kitchens fall into this bracket, and that edge profiles beyond the standard eased edge can push a job into it.$80–$130per sq ft installed (CAD)Toronto General Contractors (Dec 22, 2025)
Level 2 granite, installed (wider colour choice, more visible movement)Tec Corp Stone calls Level 2 the middle of the market and describes this as commonly ranging, not a quotation. It overlaps the top of its own Level 1 band.$75–$110per sq ft installed (CAD)Tec Corp Stone (Toronto, Level 1-3 guide, January 2026)
Level 3 granite, installed (rare colours, dramatic movement, difficult sourcing)Tec Corp Stone writes $100 as where this level begins and says it may exceed $140 when the slab is rare, difficult to source or needs detailed fabrication planning. The top is open, not a ceiling.$100–$140per sq ft installed (CAD)Tec Corp Stone (Toronto, Level 1-3 guide, January 2026)
Granite countertops in Mississauga, supplied and installedCGD Cabinetry adds that imported granite runs at least 30 percent more than basic granite, so the $90 top is not the ceiling for an imported slab.$40–$90per sq ft installed (CAD)CGD Cabinetry (Mississauga, granite countertop prices)

How far apart are the companies?

Far enough that a reader with two quotes should not assume one of them is wrong. The drawing below is the same rows as the table above, one axis per unit, so a square-foot rate is never set against a per cut-out fee. Each bar runs from the low figure that company advertises to its high figure, and the bar is drawn from those two numbers and nothing else. On the per sq ft installed (CAD) figures the two furthest apart are $40–$90 and $45–$180, from CGD Cabinetry (Mississauga, granite countertop prices) and Stone Wizards (Toronto, quartz cost guide updated April 2026). Neither is the market rate, because this site has not got one and has not built one.

Every published range on this page that has two closed ends, grouped by the exact unit its own source priced it in. Read off 8 companies' own pages in August 2026.

7 published figures, per sq ft installed (CAD)

  • Granite countertops in Mississauga, supplied and installed$40–$90

Published by CGD Cabinetry (Mississauga, granite countertop prices). CGD Cabinetry adds that imported granite runs at least 30 percent more than basic granite, so the $90 top is not the ceiling for an imported slab.

  • Quartz countertops installed, Toronto (comparison against granite)$45–$180

Published by Stone Wizards (Toronto, quartz cost guide updated April 2026). Stone Wizards' own 2026 installed price for quartz, shown here only so the granite figures above have something to sit against. Most of its Select projects land between $45 and $95.

  • Granite countertops in Toronto, whole published span (basic to premium)$50–$150

Published by Granite Nations (Scarborough, Toronto granite guide 2026). Granite Nations splits its own span in the same line: basic $50 to $80, premium $100 to $150. The middle of the span is thinly populated on its own page.

  • Entry-level / builder-grade granite (Level 1), installed$55–$80

Published by TecCorp Stone (Toronto, Level 1-3 guide, Jan 2026). Tec Corp Stone's Level 1 band: widely available colours and repeatable patterns. It writes this as where installed pricing may begin, and puts Level 1 at the lower end of a wider $55 to $140+ Toronto range.

  • Level 2 granite, installed (wider colour choice, more visible movement)$75–$110

Published by Tec Corp Stone (Toronto, Level 1-3 guide, January 2026). Tec Corp Stone calls Level 2 the middle of the market and describes this as commonly ranging, not a quotation. It overlaps the top of its own Level 1 band.

  • Mid-range granite, installed (Toronto General Contractors' Level 2 equivalent)$80–$130

Published by Toronto General Contractors (Dec 22, 2025). Toronto General Contractors says most Toronto kitchens fall into this bracket, and that edge profiles beyond the standard eased edge can push a job into it.

  • Level 3 granite, installed (rare colours, dramatic movement, difficult sourcing)$100–$140

Published by Tec Corp Stone (Toronto, Level 1-3 guide, January 2026). Tec Corp Stone writes $100 as where this level begins and says it may exceed $140 when the slab is rare, difficult to source or needs detailed fabrication planning. The top is open, not a ceiling.

2 published figures, per project (CAD)

  • Small condo kitchen, 25-30 sq ft, Level 1 granite installed$1,400–$2,400

Published by Tec Corp Stone (Toronto, Level 1-3 guide, January 2026). Tec Corp Stone states these examples are not fixed quotations, and that waterfall panels, full-height backsplashes, demolition and premium edges are extra.

  • Large GTA kitchen with an island, complete installed countertop project$7,500–$12,000

Published by TecCorp Stone (Toronto kitchen countertop cost guide, Jan 24, 2026). Tec Corp Stone publishes this as a planning range, writing the top as $12,000+, and says the final quote depends on material, slab quantity, fabrication and installation scope.

3 rows in the table are not drawn above. Each is the only figure on this page priced that way, so there is nothing on the same unit to set them against, and one bar alone on an axis says less than the row already does.

What a granite quote is made of, and what comes after it

Granite is quoted by level, and the level number is a supplier's pricing label rather than a quality grade. This is what moves the number, in order, and the one cost on this page that arrives years after the install.
  1. The level the slab is filed under

Level 1 is widely available colours and repeatable patterns; the higher levels are rarer colours and more movement in the stone. The bands overlap, so the same slab can be quoted at two levels by two shops.

    • $55–$80 per sq ft installed (CAD), Entry-level / builder-grade granite (Level 1), installed, published by TecCorp Stone (Toronto, Level 1-3 guide, Jan 2026)
    • $75–$110 per sq ft installed (CAD), Level 2 granite, installed (wider colour choice, more visible movement), published by Tec Corp Stone (Toronto, Level 1-3 guide, January 2026)
    • $100–$140 per sq ft installed (CAD), Level 3 granite, installed (rare colours, dramatic movement, difficult sourcing), published by Tec Corp Stone (Toronto, Level 1-3 guide, January 2026)
  2. Where the slab came from

Sourcing moves the price on its own. Imported granite is quoted well above basic granite in Mississauga, which is why a low supplied rate and a high installed rate can describe the same stone.

    • $40–$90 per sq ft installed (CAD), Granite countertops in Mississauga, supplied and installed, published by CGD Cabinetry (Mississauga, granite countertop prices)
  3. Read what the rate includes

The most common way two granite quotes stop being comparable. One shop's per square foot figure excludes installation and transport while another's includes both, and the gap looks like a discount.

    • $50–$150 per sq ft installed (CAD), Granite countertops in Toronto, whole published span (basic to premium), published by Granite Nations (Scarborough, Toronto granite guide 2026)
    • $80–$130 per sq ft installed (CAD), Mid-range granite, installed (Toronto General Contractors' Level 2 equivalent), published by Toronto General Contractors (Dec 22, 2025)
  4. Openings, edges and islands

Charged per opening, on top of the rate. An oversized island may also need a second slab or a planned seam, which moves the total more than the extra square footage does.

    • $250–$350 per cut-out (CAD), Undermount sink cut-out, published by Stone Valley Countertops (Mississauga, GTA pricing guide)
  5. The kitchen as one figure

The same rates applied to a real kitchen. Both figures here are published before HST and before extras such as waterfall panels, full-height backsplashes and demolition.

    • $1,400–$2,400 per project (CAD), Small condo kitchen, 25-30 sq ft, Level 1 granite installed, published by Tec Corp Stone (Toronto, Level 1-3 guide, January 2026)
    • $3,200–$6,800 per project, before HST (CAD), Typical 40 sq ft Toronto kitchen, granite supplied and installed, published by Toronto General Contractors (Dec 22, 2025)
    • $7,500–$12,000 per project (CAD), Large GTA kitchen with an island, complete installed countertop project, published by TecCorp Stone (Toronto kitchen countertop cost guide, Jan 24, 2026)
  6. Sealing, for the rest of its life

The cost granite has and engineered stone does not. A professional reseal is a maintenance visit on a finished top, roughly a four hour job, and it recurs.

    • $200–$350 per visit (CAD), Professional granite resealing service, average kitchen, published by Pacific West Floor Decor (Canadian countertop company, resealing cost guide)

What drives the price?

Scope drives it more than material does. The list below is ordered by how much each one moves a granite countertop quote in Toronto, and every line names the company that published the figure beside it, so you can read a quote and see where the money goes.

  • Level tier: Tec Corp Stone prices Level 1 granite at $55-$80 per sq ft installed, Level 2 at $75-$110 and Level 3 at $100-$140 or more, and says the level number is a supplier pricing label rather than a quality grade
  • Slab rarity and sourcing: CGD Cabinetry says imported granite runs at least 30 percent more than basic granite in Mississauga
  • Supplied versus installed quoting: CGD Cabinetry's $40-$90 per sq ft excludes installation and transportation, while Toronto General Contractors' $75-$175 includes installation
  • Cut-outs: an undermount sink cut-out is $250-$350 and a cooktop cut-out $250-$450 at Stone Valley Countertops, charged per opening
  • Island work: a mitred waterfall panel adds $900-$1,800 per side at Stone Valley, and oversized islands may need a second slab or a planned seam
  • Site access: Toronto condo installs mean elevator bookings, loading dock windows and long carry routes that a driveway install does not need (Stone Wizards)
  • Backsplash scope: a full-height stone backsplash is quoted at $900-$2,200 or more at Stone Valley and can rival the countertop itself
  • Sealing over the life of the top: Pacific West Floor Decor charges $200-$350 for a professional reseal that takes about four hours

What's specific to Ontario and Toronto?

Ontario rules and Toronto's climate change the math in ways national price guides miss. Here is what applies locally, from HST to permits to freeze-thaw.

  • Ontario HST is 13 percent and many countertop quotes show it separately. On the $3,200 to $6,800 range Toronto General Contractors gives for a 40 sq ft kitchen, HST adds roughly $416 to $884. Ask in writing whether the number you were given is HST-in or HST-extra before you compare two fabricators.
  • A supplied price and an installed price are different products in this market. CGD Cabinetry quotes $40 to $90 per sq ft for granite in Mississauga and states that installation and transportation are extra. Toronto General Contractors quotes $75 to $175 per sq ft with installation included. Neither is wrong; they are answering different questions, and comparing them directly is the most common budgeting error on this material.
  • Toronto condo installs carry building rules a house install does not. Red Stone Contracting reports that Toronto condo corporations typically hold a refundable security deposit of $1,000 to $5,000, and require the contractor to provide a $5 million commercial liability insurance certificate naming the condo corporation as additionally insured, noting that the standard $2 million policy many trades carry is often insufficient for condo work. WSIB clearance for every worker is also normally required before board approval. None of that appears in a per-square-foot countertop price.
  • Sealing frequency in Ontario homes is stone-specific, not calendar-specific. CGD Cabinetry says flatly that sealing depends on the stone and that not all granite is the same, and that ten homeowners will give ten different answers. Pacific West Floor Decor charges $200 to $350 for a professional reseal on an average kitchen, a job it says takes about four hours. The water-drop test settles it for your own counter: sprinkle water on the surface, and if it beads the seal is fine, if it soaks in it is time to reseal.
  • Buying at the slab yard changes both the price and the risk. Tec Corp Stone advises reviewing the actual slab rather than the level number, and asking what the quoted level includes, because no two Toronto suppliers use the same classification. Ask to approve the slab layout before cutting, because natural veining decides where seams show. Remnant racks at GTA fabricators are the cheap route for vanities, laundry tops and small islands.

How can I pay less?

You can keep granite countertop costs down without cutting the parts that matter. These are the levers GTA homeowners actually use, each tied to a real number above.

  • Drop one level tier. Tec Corp Stone prices Level 1 granite at $55-$80 per sq ft installed against $100-$140 or more for Level 3, and says the level is a pricing classification rather than a measure of how the stone performs. On a 40 sq ft kitchen that is a swing of roughly $1,800-$2,400.
  • Pick a domestic or widely stocked slab over an import. CGD Cabinetry says imported granite costs at least 30 percent more than basic granite in Mississauga, which on its own $40-$90 per sq ft supplied range is $12-$27 per sq ft before any labour.
  • Count the openings before you compare quotes. Stone Valley charges $250-$350 per sink cut-out and $250-$450 per cooktop cut-out, so a kitchen with a prep sink and a separate cooktop can carry $750-$1,150 of cut-out charges that a headline square-foot price does not mention.
  • Skip the waterfall. Each mitred waterfall side costs $900-$1,800 at Stone Valley, so a two-sided island waterfall is $1,800-$3,600 before HST, on top of the countertop.
  • Ask what the level number includes, not just what it costs. Tec Corp Stone states there is no universal Level 1, 2 and 3 classification followed by every Toronto supplier, so a slab priced as Level 2 at one shop can appear as Level 1 at another. The label is not a price you can shop on; the written scope is.
  • Get three itemized quotes on identical scope. Ask every fabricator to price the same slab, edge profile, number of cut-outs, removal, disposal, delivery and HST treatment. CGD Cabinetry describes the failure mode plainly: homeowners anchor on a $40 per square foot advertisement and then meet cut-outs, edge profiles and disposal fees on the invoice.

Where do these numbers come from?

From 8 companies' own published pages, and nowhere else. Countertop Installersdid not survey anyone and did not model, average or interpolate a single figure. Every price above was read off a named company's page in August 2026, is reproduced with that company named beside it, and carries the caveat that company attached to it. Several of those companies compete with each other and are listed in this directory, so no single one of these ranges is the market rate. Here is what reconciling them turned up.

  • GTA companies disagree on the headline installed range, so treat any single number with caution. Toronto General Contractors puts granite at $75 to $175 per sq ft installed (December 2025). Tec Corp Stone quotes a broader $55 to $140 or more across its Level 1, 2 and 3 tiers (January 2026). Granite Nations in Scarborough publishes $50 to $150. CGD Cabinetry in Mississauga publishes $40 to $90. The published span for the GTA is therefore roughly $40 to $175 per sq ft installed, and the band where three of the four overlap is $75 to $130.
  • Much of the apparent disagreement is scope, not stone. CGD Cabinetry's $40 to $90 is a supplied price and it states separately that installation and transportation are extra; Toronto General Contractors' $75 to $175 includes installation. A $40 per sq ft advertisement and a $110 per sq ft quote can describe the same kitchen. CGD's own guide describes the pattern from the homeowner's side: people walk in thinking $40 a square foot is a bargain, then the real bill arrives with cut-outs, edge profiles and disposal fees on it.
  • Whole-project figures depend on the assumed kitchen size, which guides rarely state clearly. Toronto General Contractors uses 30 to 40 sq ft of counter and lands at $2,500 to $6,000, or $3,200 to $6,800 at 40 sq ft before HST. Tec Corp Stone quotes $1,400 to $2,400 for a 25 to 30 sq ft condo kitchen in Level 1 granite, $3,000 to $5,500 for a 40 to 50 sq ft family kitchen in Level 2 and $5,500 to $9,800 or more for a 55 to 70 sq ft feature kitchen in Level 3. Confirm the square footage behind any total before comparing it to your own.
  • Granite levels are not quality grades. Tec Corp Stone is explicit that Level 1, 2 and 3 are supplier pricing classifications, that the words level, grade, group and tier get used interchangeably, that there is no universal classification every Toronto supplier follows, and that a slab identified as Level 2 by one supplier may appear in another supplier's Level 1 or Level 3. A Level 1 slab is not weaker stone. Judge the actual slab and the written scope, not the label.
  • The add-ons are where GTA quotes separate. Stone Valley Countertops charges $250 to $350 per undermount sink cut-out and $250 to $450 per cooktop cut-out, prices a mitred waterfall panel at $900 to $1,800 per island side, and a full-height backsplash at $900 to $2,200 or more. None of that is inside a per-square-foot countertop price. Two quotes for the same slab can differ by more than a thousand dollars purely on how many openings and panels each one includes.
  • One company's numbers were removed from this page in August 2026. Countertop Pro GTA and DreamStone Kitchen were previously cited for four of the ten prices here and for much of the prose, including a material-versus-installed comparison and an exotic-slab range. Both sites now answer automated requests with a bot challenge rather than a page, so nothing on them can be re-checked. Those figures were deleted rather than kept unverifiable, and the page was rebuilt from Tec Corp Stone, Toronto General Contractors, CGD Cabinetry, Granite Nations and Stone Valley.

What does the work look like?

Like this. Every photograph below was taken by the shop under it, of a job that shop did, and it links through to that shop's profile. Countertop Installers holds 3,205 of these across 869 businesses and took none of them. A finished edge, a seam you can or cannot see, and how a slab meets a cabinet run are the things a quote is actually about, and they are quicker to judge in a photograph than in a paragraph.

Can I work it out for my own kitchen?

What do the terms on a countertop quote mean?

These are the words that decide what a number covers. Each one is defined here because this guide uses it above, not because a glossary needs filling.

Eased edge
The plain, slightly softened square edge. It is the profile normally included in a quoted price, and every other profile is charged as an upgrade.
Mitred waterfall
A vertical panel of the same slab running down the side of an island to the floor, joined at the corner with a 45 degree cut so the veining carries around it. Priced per side because each one consumes extra slab and a precision joint.
Undermount cut-out
An opening cut so the sink hangs below the surface rather than sitting on it. The cut edge stays visible, so it is polished as a separate charge, which is why undermount costs more than a drop-in.
Slab yield
How much usable countertop a single slab produces once the layout, the veining and the cut-out positions are set. A small change in island size can push a kitchen onto a second slab and move the price more than extra square footage would.
Supplied versus installed
The first question to ask of any countertop price. A supplied figure is the material delivered and nothing else; an installed figure covers templating, fabrication and fitting as well. The two are quoted in the same units and the same currency and routinely differ by more than any upgrade on the job, which is why two quotes on one kitchen can look thousands apart while describing identical work.
Slab level
A supplier's own pricing label for a natural stone slab, usually numbered from one upward. It reflects how common the colour is and how much movement is in the stone, not how hard or durable it is, and the bands overlap, so the same slab can be filed at two different levels by two different shops.

Which other cost guides should I read next?

These three quote the most fabricators in common with this page, so they are the ones that let you check a number against a second material or a second scope.

Or read it against one other material at a time. 2 comparisons on this site read the same price rows as this guide and set them line by line against another material: quartz vs granite countertops and quartz vs granite vs marble countertops.

Frequently asked questions

How much do granite countertops cost in Toronto in 2026?

Four GTA companies publish figures spanning $40 to $175 per square foot, and they overlap at $75 to $130. Toronto General Contractors quotes $75 to $175 installed. Tec Corp Stone quotes $55 to $140 or more across its Level 1 to 3 tiers. Granite Nations publishes $50 to $150. CGD Cabinetry publishes $40 to $90 supplied, with installation extra. A 40 square foot kitchen runs $3,200 to $6,800 before 13 percent HST at Toronto General Contractors' rates. Every one of those is a price the company advertises, not a survey of settled jobs.

What does a granite kitchen cost in total in the GTA?

It depends on the counter area and the level. Tec Corp Stone publishes worked examples: $1,400 to $2,400 for a 25 to 30 square foot condo kitchen in Level 1 granite, $3,000 to $5,500 for a 40 to 50 square foot family kitchen in Level 2, and $5,500 to $9,800 or more for a 55 to 70 square foot feature kitchen in Level 3. It states these are not fixed quotations and that waterfall panels, full-height backsplashes, demolition and premium edges are extra. Toronto General Contractors puts a 30 to 40 square foot kitchen at $2,500 to $6,000. Always ask what square footage the total assumes.

Is granite cheaper than quartz in Toronto?

They overlap heavily. Stone Wizards prices quartz at $45 to $180 per square foot installed in Toronto, with most of its Select projects at $45 to $95. Granite runs $75 to $175 per square foot installed at Toronto General Contractors and $55 to $140 or more at Tec Corp Stone. Entry-level quartz undercuts most granite, the mid-ranges sit close together, and Level 3 granite at $100 to $140 or more is dearer than most quartz but cheaper than designer quartz brands. The material is not the deciding number; the slab, the level and the cut-outs are.

What extras get added to a granite quote after the per-square-foot price?

Cut-outs, edges, panels and removal. Stone Valley Countertops charges $250 to $350 per undermount sink cut-out and $250 to $450 per cooktop cut-out, $900 to $1,800 per mitred waterfall side, and $900 to $2,200 or more for a full-height backsplash. CGD Cabinetry warns that cut-outs, edge profiles and disposal fees are exactly what turns an advertised square-foot price into a larger invoice. Together these can add well over a thousand dollars to a kitchen that looked fixed-price.

How often does granite need sealing in an Ontario home, and what does it cost?

There is no single answer, and CGD Cabinetry says so directly: sealing depends on the stone, some granites are denser and less porous than others, and ten homeowners will give you ten different schedules. Pacific West Floor Decor charges $200 to $350 for a professional reseal on an average kitchen and says the job takes about four hours. Test your own counter first: drop water on the surface, and if it beads you can wait, if it soaks in it needs sealing.

Does installing granite in a Toronto condo cost more than in a house?

Usually yes, even though condo kitchens are smaller, and the extra cost is mostly building rules rather than stone. Red Stone Contracting reports Toronto condo boards typically hold a refundable security deposit of $1,000 to $5,000, require a $5 million commercial liability certificate naming the corporation as additionally insured rather than the standard $2 million policy, and require WSIB clearance for every worker before approving the work. Stone Wizards adds that elevator bookings, loading dock access, parking limits and long carry routes add labour, and that a large island piece that fits the kitchen may not fit the elevator, forcing a planned seam.
