How Much Do Porcelain Countertops Cost in Toronto in 2026?

Last updated: By The Slab Desk

Porcelain countertops in the Toronto area run $90 to $160 per sq ft installed, before HST, as published by TecCorp Stone, Kitchen Countertop Cost in Toronto (2026). Porcelain slabs are thin, so the chunky edge most kitchens want is built by mitring two pieces together, which is slow, skilled work. Cutting and drilling need specialised tooling and fewer GTA shops are set up for it. Through-body slabs, where the pattern runs all the way through, cost more than surface-printed ones. Porcelain is non-porous and needs no sealing.

What does a porcelain slab cost per square foot installed?

These are not Countertop Installers estimates and they are not a market survey. Every range below rests on 8 independent companies publishing prices on 7 of their own pages, read off those pages in August 2026: TecCorp Stone, Lemberg Stone Inc, Home Depot Canada, Stone Wizards, Better Marble, Zen Living, Toronto General Contractors, Lemberg Stone. Most are GTA fabricators and suppliers, and several are listed in this directory. Read each one as what that company advertises, not as what a job settles at: an advertised range is written to win the work, a real quote is measured on site. Where two companies disagree, each range is published under its own company's name rather than merged into a wider band neither of them quotes.

Branded mid-range porcelain (Dekton, Neolith, Caesarstone, K Stone, Ikonyx), installedStone Wizards writes this as FROM $125-150 per sq ft, a starting point rather than a band. Its quotes include templating, fabrication, edge finishing, cut-outs and installation, and it puts its premium designer tier at FROM $150 with no published ceiling.$125–$150+per sq ft installed (CAD, before HST)Stone Wizards, Porcelain Countertops Toronto (2026 pricing)
Porcelain slab, material only (GTA fabricator's itemized table)From Better Marble's material comparison table, which puts marble at $90 to $250, quartz at $80 to $180 and granite at $75 to $175 beside it. How far apart are the companies?

Far enough that a reader with two quotes should not assume one of them is wrong. The drawing below is the same rows as the table above, one axis per unit, so a square-foot rate is never set against a per cut-out fee. Each bar runs from the low figure that company advertises to its high figure, and the bar is drawn from those two numbers and nothing else. On the per sq ft installed (CAD, before HST) figures the two furthest apart are $70–$130 and $90–$160, and both of them are published by TecCorp Stone, Kitchen Countertop Cost in Toronto (2026). That spread is inside one company's own guide, before a second company is consulted at all. Neither is the market rate, because this site has not got one and has not built one.

Every published range on this page that has two closed ends, grouped by the exact unit its own source priced it in. Read off 8 companies' own pages in August 2026.

2 published figures, per sq ft installed (CAD, before HST)

  • Quartz countertop installed in Toronto (direct comparison against porcelain's $90-$160 from the same source)$70–$130

Published by TecCorp Stone, Kitchen Countertop Cost in Toronto (2026). Quartz from the same Tec Corp Stone comparison table, shown so the porcelain figures have something to sit against. The table labels the column Typical Installed Range.

  • Porcelain / sintered stone countertop, installed (Toronto and GTA planning range)$90–$160

Published by TecCorp Stone, Kitchen Countertop Cost in Toronto (2026). From Tec Corp Stone's material comparison table, which labels the column Typical Installed Range and names specialized cutting, handling, edge treatment and mitred fabrication as the main cost drivers for porcelain. It states these are planning estimates, not quotations.

2 published figures, per sq ft, material only (CAD)

  • Porcelain slab, material only (GTA fabricator's itemized table)$60–$110

Published by Better Marble (Toronto/GTA material comparison table, 2025). From Better Marble's material comparison table, which puts marble at $90 to $250, quartz at $80 to $180 and granite at $75 to $175 beside it. Fabrication and installation are separate lines on the same page.

  • Dekton, material only (Toronto)$80–$150

Published by Toronto General Contractors (Toronto countertop cost guide). Material only. Toronto General Contractors states this excludes fabrication and installation, so it is not comparable with the installed rates above it.

5 rows in the table are not drawn above. Each is the only figure on this page priced that way, so there is nothing on the same unit to set them against, and one bar alone on an axis says less than the row already does. A further row is left out because the published figure has no closed upper end or is written in a different currency from the rest of the page (Branded mid-range porcelain (Dekton, Neolith, Caesarstone, K Stone, Ikonyx), installed). A bar needs two ends, so nothing is drawn rather than a guess at where it stops.

Why porcelain is priced differently from stone

Porcelain arrives as a thin, hard sheet rather than a thick block, and almost everything unusual about its price follows from that one fact. This is the sequence a porcelain quote is built along, with the figures the companies on this page publish for each part.
  1. Pick a brand tier

The single biggest driver here. A fabricator-direct porcelain, a branded slab and a designer book-matched collection are three different prices for the same category of material.

    • $125–$150+ per sq ft installed (CAD, before HST), Branded mid-range porcelain (Dekton, Neolith, Caesarstone, K Stone, Ikonyx), installed, published by Stone Wizards, Porcelain Countertops Toronto (2026 pricing)
    • $60–$200 per sq ft incl. installation (CAD), Dekton (Cosentino) slabs and countertops, Toronto, published by Lemberg Stone Inc, Toronto Dekton Countertops
    • $55–$120 per sq ft (CAD), Dekton slabs and countertops, general range (not Toronto-specific), published by Lemberg Stone (Concord, Dekton guide)
  2. The sheet on its own

Material only, before anyone measures or cuts. Canadian suppliers stock it in three thicknesses, and a thinner sheet does not automatically produce a cheaper finished countertop.

    • $60–$110 per sq ft, material only (CAD), Porcelain slab, material only (GTA fabricator's itemized table), published by Better Marble (Toronto/GTA material comparison table, 2025)
    • $80–$150 per sq ft, material only (CAD), Dekton, material only (Toronto), published by Toronto General Contractors (Toronto countertop cost guide)
  3. Cutting it without breaking it

The named cost driver for porcelain in the Toronto pricing table on this page: specialized cutting, handling, edge treatment and mitred fabrication. It is harder than stone, and the handling is what you are paying the shop for.

No company on this page bills the fabrication difficulty as its own line. It is inside the installed rates, which is precisely why porcelain's installed rate sits above its material rate by more than stone's does.

  4. Building the edge up

A thin sheet has to be mitred and folded at the front to read as a normal countertop thickness. That joint is a piece of precision work that a solid stone slab simply does not need.

Quoted inside the installed price by every company on this page. The general GTA figure for an upgraded edge profile is on the marble guide, not here.

  5. Installed, per square foot

What the companies charge with everything above included. A national retail programme and a GTA fabricator both publish figures here and they do not agree.

    • $90–$160 per sq ft installed (CAD, before HST), Porcelain / sintered stone countertop, installed (Toronto and GTA planning range), published by TecCorp Stone, Kitchen Countertop Cost in Toronto (2026)
    • $81–$149 per sq ft incl. labour (CAD), Dekton countertop installation, Canada-wide (national retail program), published by Home Depot Canada, Dekton Countertop Installation
  6. The kitchen as one figure, and what else that buys

The whole job, and the same table's quartz figure beside it so the premium is visible rather than asserted.

    • $3,500–$6,000 per kitchen (CAD, before HST), Typical Toronto kitchen, 30-40 sq ft of porcelain, installed total, published by Stone Wizards (Toronto porcelain pricing, 2026)
    • $70–$130 per sq ft installed (CAD, before HST), Quartz countertop installed in Toronto (direct comparison against porcelain's $90-$160 from the same source), published by TecCorp Stone, Kitchen Countertop Cost in Toronto (2026)

What drives the price?

Scope drives it more than material does. The list below is ordered by how much each one moves a porcelain countertop quote in Toronto, and every line names the company that published the figure beside it, so you can read a quote and see where the money goes.

  • Brand tier is the single biggest driver: Stone Wizards prices fabricator-direct porcelain from $100 per sq ft installed against $125-$150 for branded Dekton, Neolith or Caesarstone and $150 or more for designer and book-matched collections
  • Fabrication complexity: specialized cutting, handling, edge treatment and mitred fabrication are the named porcelain cost drivers in Tec Corp Stone's Toronto pricing table
  • Slab thickness: 6mm, 12mm and 20mm are the stocked Canadian options (Unique Versa Tile). Tec Corp Stone warns that a thinner slab does not automatically produce a lower completed cost
  • Edge treatment: basic profiles in the GTA run from included to $10-$30 per linear foot (Better Marble), and thin porcelain needs a mitred build-up to read as a normal countertop thickness
  • Cut-outs: $150-$300 each in the GTA (Better Marble), $150-$500 per cut-out across Ontario (Natural Stone City)
  • Waterfall panels and full-height backsplashes: both need extra slab, pattern continuity planning and precision mitred seaming, and both are almost always quoted separately
  • Site access: freight elevators, parking, loading, carrying routes and restricted working hours can add labour or force a planned seam on Toronto condo jobs (Tec Corp Stone)
  • Old countertop removal and disposal: $125-$250 in the GTA (Better Marble)

What's specific to Ontario and Toronto?

Ontario rules and Toronto's climate change the math in ways national price guides miss. Here is what applies locally, from HST to permits to freeze-thaw.

  • Ontario HST is 13 percent and is charged on top of the countertop quote. Confirm whether a number is HST-included before comparing fabricators. Better Marble's GTA cost breakdown lists taxes as a separate 13 percent line. On a $6,000 porcelain kitchen, HST adds about $780.
  • Toronto fabricators that actually publish porcelain programmes are a short list. Stone Wizards on Coronet Road in Toronto fabricates Dekton, Caesarstone, Neolith, K Stone and Ikonyx and publishes installed pricing. Tec Corp Stone fabricates porcelain in-house for Toronto and GTA residential and condo work. Lemberg Stone in Concord supplies Dekton. Home Depot Canada runs a national Dekton installation programme. Availability of a specific colour still depends on the distributor, and slabs special-ordered from Europe add shipping cost and lead time.
  • Condo delivery is a genuine constraint in Toronto, not a footnote. Large-format porcelain slabs are attractive precisely because they produce fewer seams, and that same size is what makes them hard to get into a high-rise unit. A large island or long countertop section may fit in the kitchen but still be impossible to transport through the building, so elevator dimensions, corridor turns and unit entrances have to be checked before the slab layout and seam plan are approved (Tec Corp Stone). Expect freight-elevator bookings, restricted working hours, protection of common areas, and in some cases a planned seam purely for access.
  • Silica dust is regulated in Ontario, and porcelain is the lower-risk material here. Silica is a designated substance under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, regulated by O. Reg. 490/09 in industrial workplaces. Ontario issued a countertop-work alert on October 27, 2023 warning that engineered stone can contain up to 95 percent crystalline silica. CCOHS puts engineered stone at 90 to 97 percent silica against less than 45 percent for granite and usually less than 5 percent for marble, and notes the dust from engineered stone also carries a higher proportion of very small particles. Sintered porcelain such as Dekton is fused under heat and pressure rather than bound in resin (Zicana Boutique). This affects the fabricator's shop obligations and worker safety, not your countertop price.
  • A Calgary benchmark is included on this page deliberately. Zen Living, a Calgary company, publishes porcelain and ultra-compact surfaces at $120 to $200 per sq ft installed, above every Toronto figure here. It is Canadian and in Canadian dollars, which is why it stays, but it is not a GTA quote and should not be read as one.

How can I pay less?

You can keep porcelain countertop costs down without cutting the parts that matter. These are the levers GTA homeowners actually use, each tied to a real number above.

  • Get at least three itemized quotes and check they all include the same scope. Toronto fabricators routinely quote removal, plumbing disconnect and reconnect, backsplash and premium edges separately (Stone Wizards), so a $90 per sq ft number and a $130 per sq ft number can describe the same finished kitchen.
  • Take the fabricator-direct tier instead of a brand badge. Stone Wizards prices its direct-from-manufacturer porcelain at $100 per sq ft installed against $125 to $150 for branded Dekton, Neolith or Caesarstone. On a 45 sq ft kitchen that gap is roughly $1,100 to $2,250 before HST.
  • Compare the material line against the installed line before you decide anything. Better Marble prices a porcelain slab alone at $60 to $110 per sq ft while Tec Corp Stone prices porcelain installed at $90 to $160. A quote near the lower figure is a slab, not a kitchen.
  • Do not buy thin to save money without pricing the finished edge. Tec Corp Stone states directly that a thinner slab does not automatically produce a lower completed cost once mitred edges, substrate, extra panels and complex cut-outs are counted.
  • Count the cut-outs. At $150 to $300 each in the GTA (Better Marble) and up to $150 to $500 across Ontario (Natural Stone City), a kitchen with a prep sink and a separate cooktop can carry several hundred dollars a headline rate never mentioned.
  • Measure your elevator and hallway before approving the slab layout, not after. Tec Corp Stone warns that an oversized section can be impossible to move through a Toronto building, and finding out late means either extra installers and specialized handling or a re-fabrication.

Where do these numbers come from?

From 8 companies' own published pages, and nowhere else. Countertop Installersdid not survey anyone and did not model, average or interpolate a single figure. Every price above was read off a named company's page in August 2026, is reproduced with that company named beside it, and carries the caveat that company attached to it. Several of those companies compete with each other and are listed in this directory, so no single one of these ranges is the market rate. Here is what reconciling them turned up.

  • Toronto porcelain pricing is genuinely thin compared with quartz or granite, and the published numbers disagree more than they should. Tec Corp Stone puts installed porcelain at $90 to $160 per sq ft in its Toronto table. Stone Wizards starts at $100 per sq ft for its fabricator-direct line and $125 to $150 for branded Dekton, Neolith and Caesarstone. Lemberg Stone in Concord publishes Dekton in Toronto at $60 to $200 including installation. Home Depot Canada's national installation programme is $81 to $149 including labour. Better Marble prices a porcelain slab alone at $60 to $110. The published GTA span is therefore roughly $60 to $200 per sq ft installed, and anyone quoting a tight range is guessing.
  • Porcelain is a smaller GTA market than quartz, and that shows up in the price. The list of Toronto companies that publish a porcelain programme at all is short: Stone Wizards covers Dekton, Caesarstone, Neolith, K Stone and Ikonyx, Tec Corp Stone runs its own porcelain slab lines, and Lemberg Stone supplies Dekton. Home Depot Canada offers Dekton installation nationally. Fewer shops competing on a material is itself a price driver.
  • Fabrication is harder than for quartz or granite, and the labour premium is real rather than marketing. Tec Corp Stone's own Toronto cost table names the porcelain cost drivers as specialized cutting, handling, edge treatment and mitred fabrication, which is why the same table puts porcelain $20 to $30 per sq ft above quartz. Stone Wizards makes the same point by charging more for porcelain than for quartz out of the same shop.
  • Do not assume a thin slab is a cheap slab. Canadian distributors stock 6mm, 12mm and 20mm porcelain; Unique Versa Tile lists all three thicknesses in its 20mm collection filters. Tec Corp Stone puts the cost consequence plainly for the Toronto market: a thinner slab does not automatically produce a lower completed cost, because mitred edges, substrate, extra panels and complex cut-outs can materially change the quotation.
  • The add-ons follow the same pattern as every other stone on this site. Better Marble prices a sink cut-out at $150 to $300 and old countertop removal at $125 to $250 in the GTA, with edge profiles included or $10 to $30 per foot. Natural Stone City puts cut-outs across Ontario at $150 to $500. None of that is inside a per-square-foot countertop rate.
  • Four prices were removed from this page in August 2026, and it is worth saying why. Laminam installed pricing, a mitred waterfall add-on, a matching backsplash add-on and a thin-slab material discount were all US figures from US sources, published here in US dollars. A US price does not convert cleanly into a Toronto quote and it widens a range that is already wide, so all four came out rather than being converted. Caesarstone Canada's national range came out too, because its page now refuses automated requests and the figure can no longer be re-checked.

What does the work look like?

Like this. Every photograph below was taken by the shop under it, of a job that shop did, and it links through to that shop's profile. Countertop Installers holds 3,205 of these across 869 businesses and took none of them. A finished edge, a seam you can or cannot see, and how a slab meets a cabinet run are the things a quote is actually about, and they are quicker to judge in a photograph than in a paragraph.

Can I work it out for my own kitchen?

What do the terms on a countertop quote mean?

These are the words that decide what a number covers. Each one is defined here because this guide uses it above, not because a glossary needs filling.

Templating
The measuring visit. A fabricator makes a physical or digital pattern of the finished cabinets, and that pattern, not the drawing, is what the slab is cut to. Cabinets have to be installed and level first, which is why a countertop cannot be ordered at the same time as the kitchen.
Mitred waterfall
A vertical panel of the same slab running down the side of an island to the floor, joined at the corner with a 45 degree cut so the veining carries around it. Priced per side because each one consumes extra slab and a precision joint.
Linear foot
One foot measured along the run of a counter or cabinet, whatever its depth. Cabinets and edge profiles are priced this way while countertops are priced per square foot, so the two numbers on one kitchen quote are not comparable without converting.
Supplied versus installed
The first question to ask of any countertop price. A supplied figure is the material delivered and nothing else; an installed figure covers templating, fabrication and fitting as well. The two are quoted in the same units and the same currency and routinely differ by more than any upgrade on the job, which is why two quotes on one kitchen can look thousands apart while describing identical work.
Sintered stone
Mineral powder fused under heat and pressure into a dense sheet rather than quarried or resin bound. It is the category porcelain slab countertops belong to, it arrives far thinner than a stone slab, and almost everything unusual about how it is priced follows from that thinness.
Bookmatching
Cutting two adjacent slabs from the same block and opening them like a book so the veining mirrors across the joint. It forces the layout to be planned around the pattern rather than around the offcuts, and can push a kitchen onto a second slab even when the square footage looks modest.

Which other cost guides should I read next?

These three quote the most fabricators in common with this page, so they are the ones that let you check a number against a second material or a second scope.

Or read it against one other material at a time. One comparison on this site reads the same price rows as this guide and sets them line by line against another material: porcelain vs quartz countertops.

Frequently asked questions

How much do porcelain countertops cost in Toronto?

Installed porcelain in Toronto runs $90 to $160 per square foot in Tec Corp Stone's own 2026 Toronto table. Stone Wizards starts at $100 per square foot for fabricator-direct material, $125 to $150 for branded Dekton, Neolith or Caesarstone, and $150 or more for designer collections. Lemberg Stone publishes Dekton in Toronto at $60 to $200 including installation, and Home Depot Canada's national programme is $81 to $149 including labour. Add 13 percent HST to any of these. Every figure is a price the company advertises, not a survey.

What does a full porcelain kitchen cost in the GTA?

Stone Wizards publishes the only whole-kitchen porcelain figure on this page: $3,500 to $6,000 or more for a Toronto kitchen with 30 to 40 square feet of counter, installed. That includes templating, fabrication, edge finishing, cut-outs and installation. This guide no longer multiplies a per-square-foot rate by an assumed kitchen area to produce a total, because no company published that number and it read as though one had.

Is porcelain more expensive than quartz in Toronto?

Yes, by roughly $20 to $30 per square foot. Tec Corp Stone's Toronto table puts quartz at $70 to $130 per square foot installed and porcelain at $90 to $160, side by side in the same table on the same page. Stone Wizards shows the same gap from the other end: its quartz starts at $45 per square foot installed against $100 for porcelain. On a 45 square foot kitchen that is a difference of roughly $900 to $1,350 before HST. The premium buys heat resistance, UV stability and larger slabs with fewer seams.

How much do Dekton and Neolith cost in Toronto?

Dekton in Toronto runs CAD $60 to $200 per square foot including installation at Lemberg Stone, and Home Depot Canada's national Dekton installation programme quotes $81 to $149 per square foot including labour. Toronto General Contractors puts Dekton material alone at $80 to $150. Neolith sits in Stone Wizards' branded tier at $125 to $150 per square foot installed in Toronto, rising past $150 for book-matched designer series. No Canadian price for Laminam was found on a page that could be read, so none is published here.

Are thin 6mm porcelain slabs cheaper than 20mm?

The material is cheaper. The finished countertop often is not. Tec Corp Stone states plainly that a thinner slab does not automatically produce a lower completed cost, because mitred edges, substrate, extra panels and complex cut-outs change the quotation. Canadian distributors stock 6mm, 12mm and 20mm, as Unique Versa Tile's own thickness filters show. Ask for the finished edge detail to be priced, not just the slab.

What extras should I budget on a Toronto porcelain quote?

Cut-outs at $150 to $300 each in the GTA (Better Marble), or up to $150 to $500 across Ontario (Natural Stone City). Old countertop removal at $125 to $250. Edge profiles from included to $10 to $30 per linear foot. Waterfall panels and full-height backsplashes are quoted separately by essentially every GTA shop and need extra slab plus precision mitred seaming. Then add 13 percent HST, which is about $780 on a $6,000 job.

Questions to ask your installer

  • Is the pattern full-body or surface-printed, and how will the cut edges look?
  • Are all cut-outs done in your shop rather than on site?
  • Is the edge mitred, and how is the corner reinforced? What a mitred edge adds
  • Who carries the risk if a thin slab breaks before it is installed?
