How Much Do Solid Surface Countertops Cost in Toronto in 2026?

Last updated: By The Slab Desk

Solid surface countertops in the Toronto area run $51 to $99 per sq ft installed, before HST, as published by Home Depot Canada - Cost to Install a Kitchen Countertop. Brand and colour group set the base rate, whether that is Corian, Hi-Macs, Staron or Avonite. Beyond that, the cost sits in the shop work this material makes possible: seams bonded and sanded so they effectively disappear, an integrated sink moulded into the top, a coved backsplash with no dirt trap, and thermoformed curves. None of it needs sealing.

A matte white solid surface countertop whose rectangular sink bowl and coved upstand are formed from the same sheet, with no rim, seal or visible joint anywhere, above dark green cabinets.

What does solid surface cost per square foot installed?

These are not Countertop Installers estimates and they are not a market survey. Every range below rests on 8 independent companies publishing prices on 7 of their own pages, read off those pages in August 2026: Home Depot Canada - Cost to Install a Kitchen Countertop, SolidSurface.ca, Natural Stone City - Ontario countertop cost guide, Stone Masters, Zen Living, CountertopRepair.ca, CountertopRepair.ca - Canada-wide network including Toronto, Toronto General Contractors. Most are GTA fabricators and suppliers, and several are listed in this directory. Read each one as what that company advertises, not as what a job settles at: an advertised range is written to win the work, a real quote is measured on site. Where two companies disagree, each range is published under its own company's name rather than merged into a wider band neither of them quotes.

Solid Surface countertop by Corian, supply and install (Canada)Home Depot Canada's national supply-and-install price for Corian, from its own countertop cost table where the whole table spans $51 to $114 per square foot. It is a retail programme price, not a GTA fabricator's.$51–$99per sq ft installed (CAD, before HST)Home Depot Canada - Cost to Install a Kitchen Countertop
Solid surface countertop installed, Toronto and GTA (fabricator figure)SolidSurface.ca, a Toronto fabricator, positions this as mid-market: less than premium granite or quartz, more than laminate. It is the lowest installed figure published by any company on this page.$35–$85per sq ft installed (CAD)SolidSurface.ca, Toronto fabricator since 2001
Solid surface (Corian and similar) installed, Ontario 2026 benchmarkNatural Stone City's Ontario material comparison, which puts laminate at $20 to $50 per sq ft immediately above it. Solid surface countertops installed, Toronto budget-remodel band (Corian, Gibraltar, Swanstone, Avonite)Stone Masters names Corian, Gibraltar, Swanstone and Avonite in the same paragraph as this price. Note the identical $75-$120 figure appears further down its page for recycled glass; this row is attributed to the solid surface paragraph, not that one.$75–$120per sq ft (CAD)Stone Masters (Toronto) - Inexpensive Kitchen Countertop Options
Average solid surface kitchen countertop installation (Toronto fabricator)SolidSurface.ca's own figure for an average kitchen installation, which it argues delivers more than laminate at similar pricing and costs substantially less than premium stone.$2,500–$5,000per kitchen (CAD, before HST)SolidSurface.ca (Toronto fabricator since 2001)
Solid surface (Corian and similar), supplied and installed (Calgary benchmark)Zen Living is a CALGARY company and this is a Calgary figure, not a GTA one. Replacing the countertop instead of repairing it (the comparison the repair trade publishes)From CountertopRepair.ca's own repair-versus-replacement table, which writes the top as $8,000+ and puts repair at $150 to $800 beside it. It is a repair company's framing of the alternative, so read it as one side of an argument.$2,500–$8,000per replacement (CAD)CountertopRepair.ca (repair versus replacement comparison)
Quartz installed in Toronto, for comparison (the material most buyers choose instead)Toronto General Contractors states this depends on brand, pattern complexity and slab thickness. How far apart are the companies?

Far enough that a reader with two quotes should not assume one of them is wrong. The drawing below is the same rows as the table above, one axis per unit, so a square-foot rate is never set against a per cut-out fee. Each bar runs from the low figure that company advertises to its high figure, and the bar is drawn from those two numbers and nothing else. On the per sq ft installed (CAD) figures the two furthest apart are $35–$85 and $60–$180, from SolidSurface.ca, Toronto fabricator since 2001 and Toronto General Contractors (Toronto countertop cost guide). Neither is the market rate, because this site has not got one and has not built one.

Every published range on this page that has two closed ends, grouped by the exact unit its own source priced it in. Read off 8 companies' own pages in August 2026.

4 published figures, per sq ft installed (CAD)

  • Solid surface countertop installed, Toronto and GTA (fabricator figure)$35–$85

Published by SolidSurface.ca, Toronto fabricator since 2001. SolidSurface.ca, a Toronto fabricator, positions this as mid-market: less than premium granite or quartz, more than laminate. It is the lowest installed figure published by any company on this page.

  • Solid surface (Corian and similar) installed, Ontario 2026 benchmark$50–$120

Published by Natural Stone City - Ontario countertop cost guide (2026). Natural Stone City's Ontario material comparison, which puts laminate at $20 to $50 per sq ft immediately above it. An Ontario-wide figure rather than a Toronto one.

  • Quartz installed in Toronto, for comparison (the material most buyers choose instead)$60–$180

Published by Toronto General Contractors (Toronto countertop cost guide). Toronto General Contractors states this depends on brand, pattern complexity and slab thickness. This row previously named three companies and published only one company's numbers.

  • Solid surface (Corian and similar), supplied and installed (Calgary benchmark)$85–$130

Published by Zen Living (Calgary countertop replacement guide, 2025). Zen Living is a CALGARY company and this is a Calgary figure, not a GTA one. It is shown as a Canadian-dollar cross-check and it sits above every Toronto number on this page. Its figures include both materials and professional installation.

2 published figures, per repair (CAD)

  • Single chip or crack repair on an existing solid surface top$150–$400

Published by CountertopRepair.ca (Canada-wide repair network including Toronto). CountertopRepair.ca's own band for the smaller job. It prices multiple chips, long cracks or full-surface refinishing separately and higher, at $400 to $800.

  • Extensive repair: multiple chips, long cracks or full-surface refinishing$400–$800

Published by CountertopRepair.ca - Canada-wide network including Toronto. CountertopRepair.ca's upper band, stated in the same sentence as its $150 to $400 single-chip band. This row previously published $150 to $800, which merged both bands into one range the company does not quote as a single figure.

4 rows in the table are not drawn above. Each is the only figure on this page priced that way, so there is nothing on the same unit to set them against, and one bar alone on an axis says less than the row already does.

What a solid surface quote buys that a stone quote cannot

Solid surface is a sheet of homogeneous material rather than a slab of stone, and that is why its price behaves differently: joints can be bonded until they disappear, a sink can be part of the counter, and damage can be sanded out instead of replaced. This is the sequence, with what the companies on this page publish at each step.
  1. Where the quote comes from

The widest split on this page, and it is not about the material. A national retail programme and a Toronto fabricator publish rates for the same product that differ by about as much as the whole band.

    • $51–$99 per sq ft installed (CAD, before HST), Solid Surface countertop by Corian, supply and install (Canada), published by Home Depot Canada - Cost to Install a Kitchen Countertop
    • $35–$85 per sq ft installed (CAD), Solid surface countertop installed, Toronto and GTA (fabricator figure), published by SolidSurface.ca, Toronto fabricator since 2001
    • $75–$120 per sq ft (CAD), Solid surface countertops installed, Toronto budget-remodel band (Corian, Gibraltar, Swanstone, Avonite), published by Stone Masters (Toronto) - Inexpensive Kitchen Countertop Options
  2. Pick a brand, or do not

Four brand names sit inside one published band on this page, so the badge moves the number less than the fabrication does.

    • $50–$120 per sq ft installed (CAD), Solid surface (Corian and similar) installed, Ontario 2026 benchmark, published by Natural Stone City - Ontario countertop cost guide (2026)
  3. Bonded joints

Seams are chemically bonded and sanded flush rather than filled, so a long run can read as one piece. This is a fabrication skill, not a material grade.

No Canadian source on this page publishes a rate for seam work on solid surface. It is inside the installed figures above.

  4. An integrated sink, or a curve

The bowl is made from the same sheet and bonded in, and a backsplash can be the counter bent upward rather than a second piece joined to it. Neither is something a quartz or granite top can do at any price.

No Canadian source publishes a per bowl or per curve rate, so both are quoted per project. This site will not print a number nobody published.

  5. The kitchen as one figure

The whole job from a Toronto fabricator, and the material most buyers choose instead, beside it.

    • $2,500–$5,000 per kitchen (CAD, before HST), Average solid surface kitchen countertop installation (Toronto fabricator), published by SolidSurface.ca (Toronto fabricator since 2001)
    • $60–$180 per sq ft installed (CAD), Quartz installed in Toronto, for comparison (the material most buyers choose instead), published by Toronto General Contractors (Toronto countertop cost guide)
  6. Damage, years later

The stage that pays back the whole decision. A chip or a crack is sanded and refinished rather than replaced, and the repair trade publishes both the repair and the replacement it avoids.

    • $150–$400 per repair (CAD), Single chip or crack repair on an existing solid surface top, published by CountertopRepair.ca (Canada-wide repair network including Toronto)
    • $400–$800 per repair (CAD), Extensive repair: multiple chips, long cracks or full-surface refinishing, published by CountertopRepair.ca - Canada-wide network including Toronto
    • $2,500–$8,000 per replacement (CAD), Replacing the countertop instead of repairing it (the comparison the repair trade publishes), published by CountertopRepair.ca (repair versus replacement comparison)

What drives the price?

Scope drives it more than material does. The list below is ordered by how much each one moves a solid surface countertop quote in Toronto, and every line names the company that published the figure beside it, so you can read a quote and see where the money goes.

  • Brand and colour group: Stone Masters names Corian, Gibraltar, Swanstone and Avonite in the same $75-$120 per sq ft band, so the brand badge moves the price less than the fabrication does
  • Where the quote comes from: Home Depot Canada's retail programme is $51-$99 per sq ft for Corian while Toronto fabricator SolidSurface.ca publishes $35-$85, a gap of the same order as the whole band
  • Undermount sink edge finishing: Home Depot Canada charges $175-$275 each on top, on a stone surface, for finishing the edges of the cut-out
  • Integrated seamless sinks: fabricated from the same sheet and chemically bonded rather than dropped in, which is the one thing quartz cannot do at any price. No Canadian source publishes a per-bowl price, so it is quoted per project
  • Thermoformed curves and coved backsplashes: the same sheet bent rather than a second piece joined. No Canadian source publishes a rate for it, so treat it as quoted per project
  • Kitchen size: Home Depot Canada's national average is $2,400 per job for a 28 square-foot countertop, tax excluded, including edging and cut-outs for one sink and one faucet
  • Removal of the old top: Home Depot Canada states removal and disposal of the existing countertop is available for an additional charge, not included in the price above
  • Repair over the life of the top: $150-$400 for a single chip or crack and $400-$800 for extensive refinishing (CountertopRepair.ca)

What's specific to Ontario and Toronto?

Ontario rules and Toronto's climate change the math in ways national price guides miss. Here is what applies locally, from HST to permits to freeze-thaw.

  • Ontario HST is 13 percent, made up of the 5 percent federal GST and an 8 percent provincial portion. Almost every figure on this page is before tax, and Home Depot Canada states its numbers are tax excluded, so a $3,500 kitchen top becomes about $3,955 out the door. Confirm whether a GTA quote is HST-in or HST-extra before comparing two shops.
  • GTA labour is the top of the Ontario range. Natural Stone City's 2026 guide shows Toronto and the GTA at $85 to $160 per sq ft installed for mid to premium countertops against $75 to $140 in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario and $70 to $130 in Niagara and Hamilton. Expect solid surface to sit at the upper half of its published band inside the 416 and 905.
  • Commercial and institutional work is where Ontario demand holds up. SolidSurface.ca has fabricated solid surface for Toronto medical and dental practices, food service and architectural projects, and markets refinishing specifically so surfaces can be brought back to standard. Mordor Intelligence puts healthcare and office breakrooms among the segments where the material stays relevant in North America, for seamless joints and integrated sinks rather than for price.
  • Condo delivery changes the job, not just the price. Tec Corp Stone's Toronto guidance lists freight elevator reservations, restricted working hours, parking coordination and protected carrying routes as normal condo conditions, and buildings commonly ask for contractor insurance and WSIB documentation before a delivery date is confirmed. Solid surface has a real advantage here: pieces can be chemically seamed on site into one continuous top, so the material can arrive as smaller sections that fit the elevator.
  • Over the life of the top, repairability is a genuine Ontario cost advantage. CountertopRepair.ca prices a single chip or crack at $150 to $400 and full-surface refinishing at $400 to $800 against a $2,500 to $8,000 or more replacement, and Home Depot Canada puts the expected life at 20 to 30 years with care. Toronto has fabricators doing this work locally, including Solid Surface Toronto Inc in Etobicoke.

How can I pay less?

You can keep solid surface countertop costs down without cutting the parts that matter. These are the levers GTA homeowners actually use, each tied to a real number above.

  • Compare on scope, not on the per-square-foot number. A $50 per sq ft quote and a $99 per sq ft quote can both be honest if one excludes removal, cut-outs, delivery and edge upgrades. Home Depot Canada's $2,400 average for a 28 sq ft top includes edging and cut-outs for one sink and one faucet, and states removal and disposal are an additional charge.
  • Get a fabricator quote as well as a retail one. SolidSurface.ca in Toronto publishes $35 to $85 per sq ft installed against Home Depot Canada's $51 to $99 for the same material. On a 45 sq ft kitchen that spread is worth more than the colour, the edge and the sink combined.
  • Repair before you replace. CountertopRepair.ca prices a single chip or crack at $150 to $400 and extensive refinishing at $400 to $800, against a replacement it puts at $2,500 to $8,000 or more. Solid surface is the one material where the damage can be sanded out completely, because the colour runs through.
  • Skip the undermount edge finishing if you are not committed to it. Home Depot Canada charges $175 to $275 each for finishing the edges of an undermount sink cut-out, on top of the countertop price.
  • Put the money into the integrated sink instead. It is the single feature that justifies choosing solid surface over quartz, since quartz cannot do it at any price, and it removes the rim and caulk line where kitchens collect grime. No Canadian company publishes a per-bowl figure, so ask for it as a named line on the quote.
  • Book condo deliveries around the building's rules before fabrication starts. Elevator reservations, restricted hours and long carry routes get priced into labour if they surface late, and solid surface can be fabricated in smaller sections and seamed on site to avoid an oversized-handling charge.

Where do these numbers come from?

From 8 companies' own published pages, and nowhere else. Countertop Installersdid not survey anyone and did not model, average or interpolate a single figure. Every price above was read off a named company's page in August 2026, is reproduced with that company named beside it, and carries the caveat that company attached to it. Several of those companies compete with each other and are listed in this directory, so no single one of these ranges is the market rate. Here is what reconciling them turned up.

  • Canadian companies disagree on what solid surface costs, and the honest answer is a wide band. Home Depot Canada lists Solid Surface by Corian at $51 to $99 per sq ft installed. Natural Stone City's Ontario guide says $50 to $120. SolidSurface.ca, a Toronto fabricator, says $35 to $85. Stone Masters in Toronto says $75 to $120. Zen Living's Calgary guide says $85 to $130. Treat $50 to $120 per sq ft installed as the planning band for the GTA and expect the actual quote to depend far more on fabrication detail than on the brand name.
  • Residential demand in the GTA has moved to quartz, and the price lists show it. Toronto General Contractors' countertop guide breaks out granite, marble, quartz, laminate, butcher block and Dekton, and does not list solid surface at all. Tec Corp Stone's Toronto cost table does the same. Solid surface now survives on features the stone materials cannot match rather than on price, since Toronto General Contractors' own $60 to $180 per sq ft quartz range overlaps the solid surface band almost completely.
  • What solid surface still wins on is seamlessness. It is chemically bondable, so two pieces fuse into a joint that is invisible and cannot be felt, and it is thermoformable, so the same sheet can be bent into a curve, a coved backsplash or a sink bowl. Quartz cannot do an integrated sink at all. That is the feature people are actually buying when they choose this material over stone.
  • Repairability is the second reason the material is still specified. Colour runs all the way through, so scratches, burns and stains sand and buff out. CountertopRepair.ca puts a single chip or crack at $150 to $400 and more extensive work, meaning multiple chips, long cracks or full-surface refinishing, at $400 to $800, against a replacement it prices at $2,500 to $8,000 or more. It is a repair company making a repair company's argument, but the two bands are its own published numbers.
  • The material's real growth market is commercial. Mordor Intelligence's North America countertop report says solid surface remains relevant in commercial healthcare and office breakrooms where seamless seams and thermosetting fabrication allow integrated sinks and coves. Toronto's SolidSurface.ca runs whole product lines for medical and dental offices, food service and architectural work.
  • The honest trade-off: Corian is soft compared with stone, it scorches, and it cannot take an undermounted cooktop. A hot pot set on a seam can pop it open. Home Depot Canada rates its life at 20 to 30 years with simple care, and says avoiding direct heat and cutting straight on the surface is what gets you there. The durability gap against quartz is about daily habits, not lifespan, because the damage that does happen can be sanded out.
  • Three prices were removed from this page in August 2026. An integrated sink range, a coved backsplash rate and a commercial-grade installed band were all US figures in US dollars, two of them from cost aggregators. A US price does not convert into a Toronto quote, and SPEC for this site excludes them rather than converting them. They were deleted rather than restated, and no Canadian replacement was invented.

What does the work look like?

Like this. Every photograph below was taken by the shop under it, of a job that shop did, and it links through to that shop's profile. Countertop Installers holds 3,205 of these across 869 businesses and took none of them. A finished edge, a seam you can or cannot see, and how a slab meets a cabinet run are the things a quote is actually about, and they are quicker to judge in a photograph than in a paragraph.

Can I work it out for my own kitchen?

What do the terms on a countertop quote mean?

These are the words that decide what a number covers. Each one is defined here because this guide uses it above, not because a glossary needs filling.

Undermount cut-out
An opening cut so the sink hangs below the surface rather than sitting on it. The cut edge stays visible, so it is polished as a separate charge, which is why undermount costs more than a drop-in.
Supplied versus installed
The first question to ask of any countertop price. A supplied figure is the material delivered and nothing else; an installed figure covers templating, fabrication and fitting as well. The two are quoted in the same units and the same currency and routinely differ by more than any upgrade on the job, which is why two quotes on one kitchen can look thousands apart while describing identical work.
Integrated sink
A bowl made from the same sheet as the counter and bonded to it, so there is no rim, no seal and no joint to fail. Solid surface and cultured marble can do it and stone cannot at any price, which is a large part of what a solid surface quote is buying.
Thermoforming
Heating a solid surface sheet until it can be bent, then holding the shape as it cools. It is how a coved backsplash or a curved counter front is made from one continuous piece rather than assembled from two, and no Canadian supplier publishes a rate for it, so it is quoted per project.

Which other cost guides should I read next?

These three quote the most fabricators in common with this page, so they are the ones that let you check a number against a second material or a second scope.

Or read it against one other material at a time. One comparison on this site reads the same price rows as this guide and sets them line by line against another material: solid surface vs quartz countertops.

Frequently asked questions

How much do solid surface countertops cost in Toronto?

Five Canadian companies publish figures between $35 and $130 per square foot installed, and the practical GTA band is $50 to $120. Home Depot Canada lists Solid Surface by Corian at $51 to $99 before tax. Natural Stone City's Ontario guide says $50 to $120. Toronto fabricator SolidSurface.ca says $35 to $85, and it also puts an average kitchen installation at $2,500 to $5,000. Stone Masters in Toronto says $75 to $120. Add 13 percent HST.

Is solid surface cheaper than quartz in the GTA?

Barely, and often not at all. Toronto General Contractors puts quartz at $60 to $180 per square foot installed. Solid surface at $50 to $120 overlaps that almost entirely, and Zen Living's Calgary figure of $85 to $130 sits inside the quartz band outright. Price is not the reason to choose this material. Seamlessness, integrated sinks and repairability are.

What does an integrated Corian sink cost?

No Canadian company publishes a per-bowl price for it, so this guide does not print one. The figures that used to be here were US dollars from US cost aggregators and have been removed rather than converted. What is worth knowing is what you are buying: the sink is fabricated from the same sheet as the counter and chemically bonded, so there is no rim, no caulk line and no joint at the waterline. Quartz cannot do this at any price. Ask your fabricator to quote it as its own named line.

Can a scratched or burned solid surface counter be repaired, and what does it cost?

Yes, and this is the material's strongest argument. Colour runs all the way through, so damage sands and buffs out. CountertopRepair.ca, which covers Toronto, prices most single-chip or crack repairs at $150 to $400, and multiple chips, long cracks or full-surface refinishing at $400 to $800. It puts replacement at $2,500 to $8,000 or more in the same comparison, so read the gap as a repair company's argument backed by its own price list. Quartz damage is permanent without professional intervention.

Why do Toronto countertop guides not list solid surface anymore?

Because residential demand moved to quartz. Toronto General Contractors' countertop guide covers granite, marble, quartz, laminate, butcher block and Dekton per square foot, and omits solid surface entirely. Tec Corp Stone's Toronto cost table does the same. The material's growth is now commercial: Mordor Intelligence notes solid surface stays relevant in healthcare and office breakrooms where seamless seams, integrated sinks and coves matter more than scratch hardness.

How long do solid surface countertops last, and what are the real drawbacks?

Home Depot Canada says 20 to 30 years with simple care, and that avoiding direct heat and cutting food directly on the surface is what gets you there. The drawbacks are specific: it is soft compared with stone so it scratches, it scorches so a hot pot needs a trivet and one set on a seam can pop it open, and you cannot undermount a cooktop in it. None of that shortens the lifespan, because the damage can be sanded out for $150 to $800, but it does mean the surface needs a bit of care.

Questions to ask your installer

  • Is the bowl integrated in the same material or undermounted?
  • How visible will the joins be in the colour I picked?
  • Can scratches and burns be sanded out later, and do you offer that service? Repair and refinishing costs
  • Is this a branded solid surface or a generic acrylic sheet?
