How Much Does a Kitchen Cabinet and Countertop Installation Cost in Toronto?

Last updated: By The Slab Desk

Replacing cabinets and the counter together in the Toronto area runs $150 to $400 per linear foot, as published by Toronto General Contractors (Toronto, Dec 2025). Cabinet construction is the big lever: stock, semi-custom and full custom are different products, not different finishes. Box material, door style, drawer hardware and interior fittings follow. Then the surface itself. Sequencing matters for the schedule: the cabinets go in and get levelled first, and only then can the fabricator template, so the counter lands days after the boxes.

A long straight run of deep green shaker base cabinets with brass bar pulls, seen down its length under a white veined quartz counter and a matching low upstand.

What does replacing cabinets and the counter together cost?

These are not Countertop Installers estimates and they are not a market survey. Every range below rests on 4 independent companies publishing prices on 5 of their own pages, read off those pages in August 2026: Toronto General Contractors, Red Stone Contracting, Alliance Millwork, Adept Renovation & Painting. Most are GTA fabricators and suppliers, and several are listed in this directory. Read each one as what that company advertises, not as what a job settles at: an advertised range is written to win the work, a real quote is measured on site. Where two companies disagree, each range is published under its own company's name rather than merged into a wider band neither of them quotes.

Stock / box-store cabinets (IKEA, Home Depot, Costco), cabinetry onlyToronto General Contractors says this depends on assembly method and finish level. Cabinets are priced per LINEAR foot of run, not per square foot like countertops, so the two numbers on a kitchen quote are in different units.$150–$400per linear foot (CAD)Toronto General Contractors (Toronto, Dec 2025)
Semi-custom cabinets (modified sizes, better boxes and finishes)Toronto General Contractors calls this lower-budget custom or semi-custom, and puts it directly above its 150 to 400 CAD box-store tier. Per linear foot.$300–$500per linear foot (CAD)Toronto General Contractors (Toronto, Dec 2025)
Mid-range custom cabinets (custom sizing, plywood boxes, soft-close standard)Toronto General Contractors calls this a significant jump in quality and personalization, and notes Canada-wide guides place semi-custom and mid-range custom brands in the same band, with Toronto aligning closely.$500–$800per linear foot (CAD)Toronto General Contractors (Toronto, Dec 2025)
Cabinet refacing, 10x10 kitchen (new doors, drawer fronts, veneer, hinges)Red Stone Contracting states this depends on whether you choose laminate, real wood veneer or solid wood doors, for a standard 10 by 10 kitchen. Refacing keeps the existing boxes, so it is not comparable with the supply prices above.$6,000–$16,000per 10x10 kitchen (CAD)Red Stone Contracting (Toronto / GTA, 2026)
Semi-custom cabinets, 10x10 kitchen, suppliedAlliance Millwork's semi-custom tier. It states cabinets account for 30 to 40 percent of a kitchen renovation budget. This row previously spanned $8,000 to $30,000 by gluing three separate tiers into one range.$13,000–$18,000per 10x10 kitchen, cabinets supplied (CAD)Alliance Millwork (Vaughan/GTA, February 2026)
Fully custom cabinets, 10x10 kitchen, suppliedAlliance Millwork writes $20,000 as a starting point for a 10 by 10 kitchen and says the figure can exceed $50,000 for larger spaces or luxury finishes, so the top is open rather than a ceiling.$20,000–$50,000per 10x10 kitchen, cabinets supplied (CAD)Alliance Millwork (Vaughan/GTA, February 2026)
Countertop package for the same kitchen, quartz, about 30 sq ft installedToronto General Contractors derives this from 80 to 150 CAD per sq ft installed applied to a standard kitchen, and says higher-end designs push well beyond it. HST is extra.$2,400–$4,500per 10x10 kitchen countertop, quartz installed, HST extra (CAD)Toronto General Contractors (Toronto, Dec 2025)
Quartz countertop material, installed (Caesarstone, Silestone, Cambria tier)From Adept Renovation & Painting's material table, which puts laminate at $30 to $50, granite at $70 to $130 and marble at $120 to $300 or more beside it. Fabrication and standard installation are included.$80–$150per sq ft installed (CAD)Adept Renovation & Painting (Toronto, July 2026)
Cabinetry line in a mid-range Toronto kitchen renovation, semi-custom installedOne line from Adept's breakdown of a mid-range $60,000 Toronto kitchen renovation, where it accounts for 30 to 40 percent of the budget. This row previously ADDED two of Adept's line items together and published the sum as a price; the two lines now stand separately.$18,000–$28,000per project, cabinets installed (CAD)Adept Renovation & Painting (Toronto, July 2026)
Countertop line in the same mid-range Toronto kitchen renovation, mid-tier quartzThe countertop line from the same $60,000 mid-range breakdown as the cabinetry row above, where it accounts for 8 to 12 percent of the budget. Read the two together rather than adding them: they are shares of one stated total, not independent prices.$4,000–$8,000per project, countertops installed (CAD)Adept Renovation & Painting (Toronto, July 2026)
Cabinet installation labour, professional install of a kitchen's cabinetsAlliance Millwork adds that skilled cabinet installers charge $50 to $200 per hour, and that installation cost varies by region. This is labour on top of the supplied cabinet price, not included in it.$2,000–$6,000per kitchen, Ontario (CAD)Alliance Millwork (Vaughan / GTA, Feb 2026)
Basic hardware allowance added to a cabinet budget (handles, hinges, slides); premium hardware and specialty finishes add 10-20% to the cabinet price insteadAlliance Millwork says premium selections push costs higher without giving a figure. Its separate detail list prices knobs and pulls at $2 to $50 each, soft-close upgrades at $20 to $50 per unit and pull-out shelves at $150 to $400 each.$50–$300added to the cabinet package (CAD)Alliance Millwork (Vaughan / GTA, Feb 2026)

How far apart are the companies?

Far enough that a reader with two quotes should not assume one of them is wrong. The drawing below is the same rows as the table above, one axis per unit, so a square-foot rate is never set against a per cut-out fee. Each bar runs from the low figure that company advertises to its high figure, and the bar is drawn from those two numbers and nothing else. On the per linear foot (CAD) figures the two furthest apart are $150–$400 and $500–$800, and both of them are published by Toronto General Contractors (Toronto, Dec 2025). That spread is inside one company's own guide, before a second company is consulted at all. Neither is the market rate, because this site has not got one and has not built one.

Every published range on this page that has two closed ends, grouped by the exact unit its own source priced it in. Read off 4 companies' own pages in August 2026.

3 published figures, per linear foot (CAD)

  • Stock / box-store cabinets (IKEA, Home Depot, Costco), cabinetry only$150–$400

Published by Toronto General Contractors (Toronto, Dec 2025). Toronto General Contractors says this depends on assembly method and finish level. Cabinets are priced per LINEAR foot of run, not per square foot like countertops, so the two numbers on a kitchen quote are in different units.

  • Semi-custom cabinets (modified sizes, better boxes and finishes)$300–$500

Published by Toronto General Contractors (Toronto, Dec 2025). Toronto General Contractors calls this lower-budget custom or semi-custom, and puts it directly above its 150 to 400 CAD box-store tier. Per linear foot.

  • Mid-range custom cabinets (custom sizing, plywood boxes, soft-close standard)$500–$800

Published by Toronto General Contractors (Toronto, Dec 2025). Toronto General Contractors calls this a significant jump in quality and personalization, and notes Canada-wide guides place semi-custom and mid-range custom brands in the same band, with Toronto aligning closely.

2 published figures, per 10x10 kitchen, cabinets supplied (CAD)

  • Semi-custom cabinets, 10x10 kitchen, supplied$13,000–$18,000

Published by Alliance Millwork (Vaughan/GTA, February 2026). Alliance Millwork's semi-custom tier. It states cabinets account for 30 to 40 percent of a kitchen renovation budget. This row previously spanned $8,000 to $30,000 by gluing three separate tiers into one range.

  • Fully custom cabinets, 10x10 kitchen, supplied$20,000–$50,000

Published by Alliance Millwork (Vaughan/GTA, February 2026). Alliance Millwork writes $20,000 as a starting point for a 10 by 10 kitchen and says the figure can exceed $50,000 for larger spaces or luxury finishes, so the top is open rather than a ceiling.

7 rows in the table are not drawn above. Each is the only figure on this page priced that way, so there is nothing on the same unit to set them against, and one bar alone on an axis says less than the row already does.

Two numbers on one kitchen quote, measured in different units

Cabinets are priced along the run, by the linear foot. Countertops are priced by the area, by the square foot. They sit next to each other on the same quote in the same currency and they are not comparable without converting, which is the single most common way a kitchen budget goes wrong. This is how the two lines are built.
  1. Cabinets, per linear foot of run

One foot measured along the wall, whatever the depth. Three tiers, and the tier is the dominant lever on the whole kitchen: stock boxes, modified sizes, then custom sizing with plywood boxes.

    • $150–$400 per linear foot (CAD), Stock / box-store cabinets (IKEA, Home Depot, Costco), cabinetry only, published by Toronto General Contractors (Toronto, Dec 2025)
    • $300–$500 per linear foot (CAD), Semi-custom cabinets (modified sizes, better boxes and finishes), published by Toronto General Contractors (Toronto, Dec 2025)
    • $500–$800 per linear foot (CAD), Mid-range custom cabinets (custom sizing, plywood boxes, soft-close standard), published by Toronto General Contractors (Toronto, Dec 2025)
  2. The same cabinets, priced as a whole kitchen

A ten by ten kitchen is the trade's standard reference room, and it is how supplied cabinet packages are published. Keeping the existing boxes and changing only the doors and fronts is a different job again.

    • $13,000–$18,000 per 10x10 kitchen, cabinets supplied (CAD), Semi-custom cabinets, 10x10 kitchen, supplied, published by Alliance Millwork (Vaughan/GTA, February 2026)
    • $20,000–$50,000 per 10x10 kitchen, cabinets supplied (CAD), Fully custom cabinets, 10x10 kitchen, supplied, published by Alliance Millwork (Vaughan/GTA, February 2026)
    • $6,000–$16,000 per 10x10 kitchen (CAD), Cabinet refacing, 10x10 kitchen (new doors, drawer fronts, veneer, hinges), published by Red Stone Contracting (Toronto / GTA, 2026)
  3. Fitting them, and the parts nobody quotes

A supplied price is not an installed price. Labour is its own line, and the hardware allowance is the last thing added and the first thing forgotten.

    • $2,000–$6,000 per kitchen, Ontario (CAD), Cabinet installation labour, professional install of a kitchen's cabinets, published by Alliance Millwork (Vaughan / GTA, Feb 2026)
    • $50–$300 added to the cabinet package (CAD), Basic hardware allowance added to a cabinet budget (handles, hinges, slides); premium hardware and specialty finishes add 10-20% to the cabinet price instead, published by Alliance Millwork (Vaughan / GTA, Feb 2026)
  4. Countertops, per square foot of surface

The other unit. Area, not run, which is why a long galley and a compact kitchen with an island can take the same linear feet of cabinet and very different areas of stone.

    • $80–$150 per sq ft installed (CAD), Quartz countertop material, installed (Caesarstone, Silestone, Cambria tier), published by Adept Renovation & Painting (Toronto, July 2026)
  5. The countertop for that same ten by ten

The conversion done for you, by the company that published both numbers. This is the row that makes the two units comparable.

    • $2,400–$4,500 per 10x10 kitchen countertop, quartz installed, HST extra (CAD), Countertop package for the same kitchen, quartz, about 30 sq ft installed, published by Toronto General Contractors (Toronto, Dec 2025)
  6. Both lines inside one real budget

What each is worth as a share of one Toronto renovation, from one company's breakdown of one total. Read them together rather than added to figures from anywhere else.

    • $18,000–$28,000 per project, cabinets installed (CAD), Cabinetry line in a mid-range Toronto kitchen renovation, semi-custom installed, published by Adept Renovation & Painting (Toronto, July 2026)
    • $4,000–$8,000 per project, countertops installed (CAD), Countertop line in the same mid-range Toronto kitchen renovation, mid-tier quartz, published by Adept Renovation & Painting (Toronto, July 2026)

What drives the price?

Scope drives it more than material does. The list below is ordered by how much each one moves a cabinet and countertop replacement quote in Toronto, and every line names the company that published the figure beside it, so you can read a quote and see where the money goes.

  • Cabinet tier is the dominant lever - stock to semi-custom to custom spans $150-$800 per linear foot before you reach boutique millwork
  • Supply-only versus supplied-and-installed - a linear-foot price often excludes installation, countertops and specialty interiors (Toronto General Contractors)
  • Kitchen size in linear feet - Alliance Millwork prices 10-15 linear feet at $15,000-$20,000 custom, 20-30 feet at $18,000-$35,000 and 35+ feet at $30,000-$50,000+
  • Box and door material - MDF $175-$300 per linear foot installed, plywood with veneer $250-$400, solid wood $300-$600, exotic woods $1,200-$2,000+ (Alliance Millwork)
  • Countertop material choice - laminate $30-$50 per sq ft, granite $70-$130, quartz $80-$150, marble $120-$300+, porcelain slab $100-$180 (Adept)
  • Layout changes - keeping the sink, stove and plumbing where they are saves $5,000-$15,000; a load-bearing wall removal adds $6,000-$14,000 plus a $1,200-$2,500 engineer's letter (Adept)
  • Trade rates - cabinet installer $90-$140/hr, finishing carpenter $90-$140/hr, general contractor $80-$130/hr in the 2026 GTA (Adept)
  • Extras that get added late - waterfall island edge $1,400-$2,200 (Adept), specialty storage inserts $100-$500 per unit, shop drawings $500-$2,500 (Alliance Millwork)

What's specific to Ontario and Toronto?

Ontario rules and Toronto's climate change the math in ways national price guides miss. Here is what applies locally, from HST to permits to freeze-thaw.

  • Ontario HST is 13 percent and it applies to both labour and materials. Adept Renovation & Painting estimates that as roughly $6,500 to $9,750 on a $50,000 to $75,000 kitchen project. The practical version: if a quote is presented before tax, the real number is higher once HST is added, so always confirm whether a cabinet-plus-countertop package price is tax-in or tax-extra before comparing two suppliers.
  • The GTA has a deep custom millwork market, and its pricing runs well above the semi-custom tier. Alliance Millwork prices custom millwork by design complexity at $500-$800 per linear foot for basic styles, $750-$1,200 for mid-range and $1,200-$2,000 or more for intricate high-end work, and notes shop drawings alone can cost $500-$2,500 before fabrication begins. Toronto General Contractors reports boutique GTA millwork shops quoting $1,500-$2,500 per linear foot. Inset doors, where the door sits flush with the frame, cost up to 25% more than standard overlay (Alliance Millwork).
  • Condo kitchens carry rules that houses do not. Maserat Developments reports board approval taking 4-10 weeks before any work starts, a refundable damage deposit of $1,000-$5,000, insurance of $2M general liability with some buildings requiring $5M, work hours typically 9am to 5pm weekdays, private waste disposal because most buildings ban construction debris from their bins, and elevator booking fees of $200-$800 per booking with a typical kitchen needing 3 to 5 bookings. Josh Kitchen lists a lower deposit range of $500-$2,000 and work hours of 8am to 6pm weekdays, so the numbers vary by building. Maserat puts the total condo overhead at 5-15% above an equivalent house scope in one guide and 15-25% in another, so plan for anywhere in 5-25%.
  • Lead times are the part homeowners underestimate. Josh Kitchen gives 1 to 2 weeks for stock cabinets, 4 to 6 weeks for semi-custom and 6 to 12 weeks for custom, with a full custom project running 8 to 12 weeks from design confirmation to completion. Alliance Millwork puts 2026 custom production at 4 to 12 weeks plus 1 to 2 weeks to install. Appliances can be worse: Maserat Developments reports 4 to 12 weeks for standard models and up to six months for professional-grade brands, and calls appliance delays the most common cause of blown timelines.
  • Permits usually do not apply to a like-for-like cabinet and countertop swap. Adept lists replacing cabinets and countertops in the same layout as work that does not require a City of Toronto building permit, and Josh Kitchen's installation guide agrees. Permits kick in when you remove a wall, change the layout or move plumbing: Adept quotes City of Toronto building permit fees of $400-$2,500, an ESA electrical permit at $150-$500 and a plumbing permit at $150-$400, and notes Ontario requires a Licensed Electrical Contractor for electrical work. One caution: Josh Kitchen's linear-foot article claims professional cabinet installation in Toronto requires a $500-$1,500 permit, which contradicts its own installation guide and every other source here. Treat that claim as unreliable and check with the City or your contractor.

How can I pay less?

You can keep cabinet and countertop replacement costs down without cutting the parts that matter. These are the levers GTA homeowners actually use, each tied to a real number above.

  • Reface instead of replacing when the boxes are sound. Red Stone Contracting puts a 10 by 10 reface at $6,000 to $16,000 against $18,000 to $55,000 or more for replacement. GTA specialist Attimo quotes $9,000 to $13,000 for a small townhome or condo kitchen and $13,000 to $18,000 for a typical detached-home kitchen, so shop the reface quote as carefully as you would a replacement.
  • Keep the existing layout. Adept reports that leaving the sink, stove and plumbing in place saves $5,000 to $15,000 against relocating them. In a Toronto condo the plumbing stack usually cannot move anyway, so this is less a choice than a constraint. Spend the saved money on cabinet quality, which is what you touch every day.
  • Pair stock or budget boxes with upgraded doors. Adept prices an IKEA SEKTION build with upgraded doors at $10,000-$18,000 installed versus $18,000-$32,000 for semi-custom, a saving of $8,000-$12,000 with what it calls minimal compromise on function.
  • Step down one tier rather than one supplier. Josh Kitchen puts semi-custom at 20-30% below a custom look, and Toronto General Contractors' tiers show the same jump: $300-$500 per linear foot semi-custom against $500-$800 mid-range custom. On 25 linear feet that is roughly $5,000-$7,500 saved.
  • Handle the demolition yourself where the building allows it. Josh Kitchen estimates removing old cabinets yourself saves $500-$1,000 in labour. Note this rarely works in a Toronto condo, where boards typically require all work to be done by licensed, insured contractors.
  • Budget hardware properly instead of cutting it. Alliance Millwork puts basic hardware at $50-$300 and says premium hardware and specialty finishes add 10-20% to the cabinet cost; Josh Kitchen advises setting aside 10-15% for handles, hinges and soft-close. Apply specialty finishes selectively, on an island or feature run only, rather than across every door.

Where do these numbers come from?

From 4 companies' own published pages, and nowhere else. Countertop Installersdid not survey anyone and did not model, average or interpolate a single figure. Every price above was read off a named company's page in August 2026, is reproduced with that company named beside it, and carries the caveat that company attached to it. Several of those companies compete with each other and are listed in this directory, so no single one of these ranges is the market rate. Here is what reconciling them turned up.

  • GTA cabinet shops quote by the linear foot, meaning the length of cabinetry along the wall, not the floor area of the kitchen. Toronto General Contractors spells out what that price usually covers: cabinet boxes and doors, standard interior shelving, and basic hardware such as hinges and drawer slides. It does not always cover installation, countertops, appliances or specialty interior accessories. That is the single biggest reason two quotes for the same kitchen look thousands apart, so before comparing numbers, confirm whether each one is supply-only or supplied and installed.
  • The tier ranges disagree between GTA sources, so treat the wide band as real. Toronto General Contractors puts stock at $150-$400 per linear foot, semi-custom at $300-$500, mid-range custom at $500-$800 and high-end custom at $800-$1,200, with boutique millwork shops quoting $1,500-$2,500. Josh Kitchen's linear-foot guide gives a narrower $150-$650 overall, splitting it into stock $150-$250, semi-custom $250-$450 and custom $400-$650. Josh Kitchen's own installation guide lists lower installed figures again (stock $100-$200, semi-custom $200-$400, custom $400-$800). Alliance Millwork reports GTA averages of roughly $275 per linear foot installed for MDF custom cabinets and about $450 per linear foot installed for solid wood custom. Taken together, budget $150-$800 per linear foot for anything from stock to good custom, and $800-$2,500 only if you are shopping boutique millwork.
  • Cabinets are the largest line item in every Toronto kitchen quote. Peacock & Owl, Maserat Developments and Alliance Millwork all put cabinetry at 30-40% of the total renovation budget, with countertops a distant second at 10-15% (Peacock & Owl). Adept Renovation & Painting's line-item breakdown of a mid-range $60,000 Toronto kitchen shows semi-custom cabinetry installed at $18,000-$28,000 against $4,000-$8,000 for mid-tier quartz. In other words, the cabinet decision moves the budget several times more than the countertop decision does.
  • Buying both from one company genuinely helps on sequencing and accountability. Countertops cannot be templated until the cabinets are set and level, so a single crew removes the handoff where a cabinet installer and a stone fabricator blame each other for a bad reveal or a sagging run. Josh Kitchen also lists ordering countertops and appliances together as a way to earn supplier discounts, and one company means one warranty covering both the boxes and the slab that sits on them.
  • Where a package does not save money is on the slab itself. Installed quartz in the GTA sits in a well-known band whoever sells it: $60-$180 per square foot per Toronto General Contractors, $80-$150 per Adept, $65-$120 for premium quartz per Maserat. A cabinet company bundling the counter is buying from the same fabricators at the same slab prices, so ask for the countertop broken out as its own line and compare it against that band. If the package price for roughly 30-40 square feet lands far above $2,400-$4,500, the bundle is carrying a markup, not a discount.
  • Toronto labour is the local premium. Adept reports that Toronto projects run 8-12% above comparable work in surrounding GTA municipalities, driven by permit oversight, parking and access limits and higher trade rates, and quotes cabinet installers at $90-$140 per hour. Alliance Millwork puts Ontario cabinet installers at $50-$200 per hour with professional installation at $2,000-$6,000 for a kitchen. For whole-project context, Adept puts a 10x10 kitchen with mid-range finishes at $40,000-$55,000 across the GTA in 2026 including labour, permits and HST, of which cabinets plus counters is roughly half.
  • Two sources were dropped from this page in August 2026. Easy Renovation's kitchen cost guide is bot-blocked now, so the sequencing and lead-time claims credited to it were rewritten from Josh Kitchen and Alliance Millwork, which say the same things on pages that can still be read. RenoQuotes was dropped as a matter of policy rather than availability: it is a contractor-matching marketplace publishing cost content, which is the category of source this site does not treat as independent. Its refacing saving figure came out and Red Stone Contracting's and Attimo's own quotes carry that section instead.

What does the work look like?

Like this. Every photograph below was taken by the shop under it, of a job that shop did, and it links through to that shop's profile. Countertop Installers holds 3,205 of these across 869 businesses and took none of them. A finished edge, a seam you can or cannot see, and how a slab meets a cabinet run are the things a quote is actually about, and they are quicker to judge in a photograph than in a paragraph.

Can I work it out for my own kitchen?

What do the terms on a countertop quote mean?

These are the words that decide what a number covers. Each one is defined here because this guide uses it above, not because a glossary needs filling.

Templating
The measuring visit. A fabricator makes a physical or digital pattern of the finished cabinets, and that pattern, not the drawing, is what the slab is cut to. Cabinets have to be installed and level first, which is why a countertop cannot be ordered at the same time as the kitchen.
Mitred waterfall
A vertical panel of the same slab running down the side of an island to the floor, joined at the corner with a 45 degree cut so the veining carries around it. Priced per side because each one consumes extra slab and a precision joint.
Linear foot
One foot measured along the run of a counter or cabinet, whatever its depth. Cabinets and edge profiles are priced this way while countertops are priced per square foot, so the two numbers on one kitchen quote are not comparable without converting.
Supplied versus installed
The first question to ask of any countertop price. A supplied figure is the material delivered and nothing else; an installed figure covers templating, fabrication and fitting as well. The two are quoted in the same units and the same currency and routinely differ by more than any upgrade on the job, which is why two quotes on one kitchen can look thousands apart while describing identical work.
Refacing
Replacing the doors, drawer fronts, hinges and visible veneer while keeping the existing cabinet boxes where they are. It is a different job from new cabinetry and is priced as its own thing, and because the boxes stay, the layout stays with them.
The 10 by 10 kitchen
The trade's standard reference room: two walls of ten feet each, about twenty linear feet of cabinet run. It is not a kitchen anyone actually has. It exists so cabinet packages from different suppliers can be compared as one figure, and it is the unit most supplied cabinet prices are published in.
Load-bearing wall
A wall carrying weight from above rather than only dividing the room. Taking one out to open a kitchen means a structural beam and a stamped letter from an engineer, and it is the single change that moves a renovation from a finishes job to a construction one.

These three quote the most fabricators in common with this page, so they are the ones that let you check a number against a second material or a second scope.

Frequently asked questions

How much do kitchen cabinets and countertops cost together in Toronto in 2026?

Adept Renovation & Painting breaks a mid-range $60,000 Toronto kitchen into named lines: semi-custom cabinetry installed at $18,000 to $28,000, which is 30 to 40 percent of the budget, and mid-tier quartz counters at $4,000 to $8,000, which is 8 to 12 percent. Those are shares of one stated total rather than two independent prices, so read them together rather than adding them to a number Adept does not publish. A budget version using stock boxes lands closer to Toronto General Contractors' $150 to $400 per linear foot for cabinets plus roughly 2,400 to 4,500 CAD for a standard kitchen's quartz. Ontario HST of 13 percent is on top.

What does a 10x10 kitchen cabinet package cost in the GTA?

Alliance Millwork's 2026 Canadian figures put a standard 10x10 kitchen at $8,000-$12,000 for stock or prefab cabinets, $13,000-$18,000 for semi-custom and $20,000 to over $30,000 fully custom, with luxury projects beyond $45,000. That is cabinetry supplied. Professional installation in Ontario adds another $2,000-$6,000, and installers charge $50-$200 per hour depending on complexity.

Is it cheaper to buy cabinets and countertops from the same company?

Sometimes, but not automatically. Installed quartz in the GTA runs $60-$180 per square foot regardless of who sells it (Toronto General Contractors), $80-$150 per Adept and $65-$120 for premium quartz per Maserat, and a cabinet company buys from the same fabricators. The real saving is coordination: Easy Renovation notes countertops cannot be measured until the cabinets are installed, so one crew removes the handoff. Ask for the countertop as its own line and check it against $2,400-$4,500 for a typical 30 sq ft kitchen before assuming the bundle is a discount.

How much does cabinet refacing cost in Toronto, and how much does it save?

GTA sources disagree, so treat the range as wide. Red Stone Contracting prices a 10x10 reface at $6,000-$16,000 against $18,000-$55,000+ for full replacement. GTA refacing specialist Attimo quotes $9,000-$13,000 for a small condo or townhome kitchen, $13,000-$18,000 for a typical detached home and $18,000-$28,000 for a large custom kitchen. RenoQuotes' national figure is lower at $2,500-$8,500, saving 30-50% versus replacement. Refacing takes 3 to 5 days on site after a 2 to 4 week door lead time, versus 3 to 6 weeks for a replacement.

How long do custom cabinets take in the GTA?

Josh Kitchen gives 1-2 weeks for stock, 4-6 weeks for semi-custom and 6-12 weeks for custom, with a full custom cabinet project running 8-12 weeks from design sign-off to finish (4-6 weeks fabrication, 1-2 weeks installation). Alliance Millwork puts 2026 custom production at 4-12 weeks plus 1-2 weeks to install. In a Toronto condo, add 4-10 weeks of board approval before any of that starts (Maserat Developments).

Do I need a permit to replace kitchen cabinets and countertops in Toronto?

Not for a like-for-like swap in the same footprint. Adept, Easy Renovation and Josh Kitchen's installation guide all list replacing cabinets and countertops in the existing layout as work that does not need a City of Toronto building permit. Permits apply once you remove a wall, change the layout or move plumbing: a building permit runs $400-$2,500, an ESA electrical permit $150-$500 and a plumbing permit $150-$400 (Adept). Ontario requires a Licensed Electrical Contractor for any electrical work, and Adept notes City fines for unpermitted work can reach $39,000.

Questions to ask your installer

  • Do you fabricate the surface in-house or subcontract it?
  • Is the surface a fixed line or an allowance in this quote? What an allowance actually buys
  • Who is responsible if the top does not fit the cabinets you installed?
  • In what order will cabinets, templating, surface and backsplash happen?
